Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Team Players List Captain

Captain: Faf du Plessis
Vice-captain: Glenn Maxwell

Next up on the ipl captain list 2023 is Faf du Plessis, who is one of the finest overseas batters in the history of the cash-rich league. His leadership skills helped the team to qualify for the playoffs in the 2022 season, and would look to continue to infuse confidence into the side. The Proteas batter is the orange cap holder currently with 511 runs in nine innings of IPL 2023. His deputy is the experienced batter Glenn Maxwell, who holds the responsibility of laying the platform for the team with his ball-striking abilities.

Virat Kohli donned the role of a leader until 2021, and is the biggest crowd puller for the RCB franchise. He is the top-run scorer in the IPL with 7043 runs in 225 innings at an average of 36.68, with 50 fifties and five centuries.

The team’s key bowlers are Mohammed Siraj, Josh Hazlewood and Wanindu Hasaranga. Siraj is currently leading the bowling charts for RCB with 15 wickets in nine games. Another pacer, Harshal Patel has not yet picked up form, and is a critical bowler in the death overs.

Over the years, RCB has reached three finals to date in 2009, 2011 and 2016, but have been unable to lift the trophy. Nevertheless, their fans have been quite vocal about their support for the team, and their dream to see RCB winning the trophy. The trio of Virat, Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers created a legacy to follow for the youngsters with their ball-striking abilities and consistency.

Gujarat IPL Team 2023 Players List Captain

Captain: Hardik Pandya
Vice-captain: Rashid Khan

Making its debut in 2022, Gujarat Titans secured the services of three players Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan. The all-rounder Pandya was chosen to lead the side, due to his experience and abilities in both departments. Certainly, the team did play well under the leadership of Pandya, as GT were able to stun their opponents in the league stage. They finished at the top of the table with 10 wins in 14 league matches. In the Qualifier 1, they prevailed over Rajasthan Royals by four wickets. Then, the final witnessed them again winning by the same equation to lift the title in their debut season.

Gill, Pandya and Miller slammed 480+ runs each and were terrific to lead the team’s charge. In fact, Pandya took three wickets and contributed 30+ runs in the final to be named ‘Player of the Match’. In the bowling unit, Mohammed Shami (20) and Rashid Khan (19) were the top performers to secure breakthroughs for GT in crunch moments.

In this season as well, Titans are well on course to defend their title. They have been victorious on seven out of 10 occasions, and are likely to be the top two teams after the league stage. In this way, they would also get two chances for sealing a place in the final.

The likes of Gill and Pandya remain the core batters, while Shami and Rashid have continued their brilliance. Interestingly, the team has an impressive bowling unit, with the presence of Mohit Sharma, Noor Ahmad and Joshua Little as well.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Captain 2023 Players List

Captain: MS Dhoni

Vice-captain: Ravindra Jadeja

Chennai Super Kings are one of the most successful teams in the Indian Premier League history. MS Dhoni finds himself on the IPL captain 2023 players list for the Super Kings. The legendary keeper-batter was awarded the role due to his success as a captain for India in the 2007 T20 World Cup. Since then, it has been history as CSK has lifted titles on four occasions, in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021.

The 2010 finals witnessed them beating Mumbai Indians by 22 runs. They put up 168 on the board, with Suresh Raina scoring 57. Then, Shadab Jakati picked two wickets to put MI under the pump, as they could only score 146. In the 2011 finals, CSK beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 58 runs. They posted 205 on the board, with Murali Vijay scoring 95. Then, Ravichandran Ashwin picked three wickets to restrict RCB to 147.

In 2018, CSK returned to the tournament after two years of suspension. They reached the playoffs with nine victories in 14 games. The Chennai-based franchise met Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final, where they conceded 178. Then, Shane Watson slammed 117* off 57 to power CSK to their third title.

In the 2021 final, CSK posted a strong total of 192 on the board, on the back of Faf du Plessis’ 86. In the bowling unit, Shardul Thakur bagged three wickets, while Josh Hazlewood picked two to help the team in winning the game by 27 runs.

CSK is doing well in the IPL 2023 season as well with six wins in 11 league matches, including a rain-abandoned match. The skipper MS Dhoni has provided terrific finishing touches to the team, while the likes of Devon Conway, Shivam Dube and Ajinkya Rahane have been impressive with the bat. In the bowling unit, Tushar Deshpande and Matheesha Pathirana have done well to pick wickets for the team.

The role of a captain is critical in the team’s success in the T20 format. Originating in the early part of this century, the shortest format of the game requires quick decision making and adaptability to situations in critical moments. Early on, the captains were under the pump with the innovative abilities of batters. The bowlers had no answers to the batters outsmarting them with their clever shots and out of the box thinking.

Nevertheless, the skills of captains have evolved, with non-stop T20 action taking place throughout the year. They aren’t afraid to go with their gut feeling to secure come-from-behind victories on most occasions, with their choice of bowlers for big moments in the game.

Rohit Sharma is the most successful leader in the IPL history, with Mumbai Indians securing five titles (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020). He is closely followed by Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni, with four titles (2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021). Both these leaders have tremendous balance in crunch situations and have got hold of critical situations in a comfortable manner.
